Becoming a Knight

Take the first
step.

The work of the Knights starts with a single decision. You can join the Order online and land in Council 15965 directly, or write to us first — ask whatever questions you have, meet a brother — and join when you're ready. Both are good ways to begin.

Two ways to join

The direct way

Join the Order
online.

Online membership at kofc.org takes about ten minutes. You'll confirm Council 15965 (pre-filled for you), choose your membership type, and complete the process online. You'll land in our roster automatically, and we'll reach out to welcome you.

Opens kofc.org in a new tab.

The thoughtful way

Talk with a
brother first.

If you'd rather meet first, ask questions, or simply learn more before committing, we'd be glad to hear from you. Fill out the short note below and a brother Knight will be in touch — usually within three days.

Send us a note

Scrolls to the form below.

The thoughtful way

Send us
a note.

A brother Knight will reply within three days. There are no wrong questions and no obligation — this is just a conversation.

We use your information only to follow up with you. We do not share it.

What happens next

Three steps,
no surprises.

  1. You reach out.

Either by joining online at kofc.org, or by sending us a short note through this page.

  2. A brother responds.

One of our officers — usually our Grand Knight, Bro. Patrick Thong — will be in touch within three days.

  3. You decide when to take the next step.

There is no pressure and no timeline. We've all been where you are.

Who can join

A few quiet
requirements.

Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men, eighteen years of age or older. You don't have to be a parishioner of St. Joseph Basilica to join Council 15965, though it helps if Alameda is where you live, work, or worship.

Beyond those two things, there are no other requirements at the door. We don't ask about your career, your bank account, or your background. We ask only that you be willing to live the four principles — charity, unity, fraternity, patriotism — alongside other men committed to the same.

Full membership details, including financial obligations, are explained in the K of C online join flow and in a one-on-one conversation with the council.
